Hi everyone
,
I’m a long-time Snoop user and I absolutely love how it helps me track spending across my different accounts. I use Barclays, Amex, Revolut and Monzo — and Snoop is the only tool that gives me a full view of everything in one place.
Recently I’ve started relying a lot more on AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude for planning, budgeting and day-to-day decisions. The problem is: there’s no way to directly connect my Snoop data to these tools, which means I still have to manually copy numbers across apps whenever I want to analyse my spending.
My idea: Snoop should add MCP (Model Context Protocol) support
MCP is a new, secure standard created by OpenAI and Anthropic that lets apps safely share structured data with AI assistants. It’s fully permissioned and privacy-first, and it doesn’t give models full account access — only the specific information a user chooses to share.
With MCP, Snoop could let users connect their spending data securely to ChatGPT or Claude and do things like:
-
Get daily/weekly/monthly spending summaries
-
Ask questions like “How much did I spend on food this month?”
-
Spot unusual spending or subscriptions
-
Get personalised budgeting recommendations
-
Forecast upcoming bills or cashflow
-
Analyse trends across all banks in one natural-language query
-
Get real-time help building savings plans or targets
This would be an absolute game-changer for users like me who manage multiple accounts and want to use AI to understand our finances better.
Why this would be amazing for Snoop
-
Snoop would be one of the first UK finance apps to support AI-native personal finance
-
It would massively increase daily engagement
-
It would set Snoop apart from every other budgeting app
-
MCP is simple to implement compared to a full API overhaul
-
The AI assistant handles the UX, so Snoop doesn’t need to redesign anything
-
It opens the door to future premium AI-powered features
My background (happy to help)
I work as a Deep Learning Architect at Amazon Web Services’ Generative AI Innovation Centre, where I help organisations design and deploy secure AI systems. Very familiar with MCP and AI integrations.
If this idea is of interest, I’d be more than happy to share context, answer questions, or help your team scope the feasibility from a technical perspective.
