Just on credit scoring - we certainly didn’t add this to Snoop to ‘make money’ from the feature. We include this in our free product and we wanted to do it because we think it’s an important tool for helping people understand their money and track and improve their financial situation over time. This feature actually directly costs us money as we have to pay for the data and insights we provide to each customer. There are apps that still charge for the same data we show - even as much as £14.99 a month
The more useful we make Snoop, the more likely people will use it, stick with us and use features which do make Snoop some revenue, to ensure we are a viable business. I totally understand that category splitting is in the area of making Snoop more useful.
Many of the features we launch (including many this year) are a direct result of customer feedback - transaction exporting, search, better categorisation, dark mode etc are just examples that were based on frequent feedback. All were brilliant suggestions that have improved our product and we are always grateful to receive all feedback.
Every piece of feedback, positive and negative, is shared with our entire company so the whole team understands the things our customers think about Snoop.
It’s absolutely fair to say we’ve not yet prioritised category splitting. That’s only because of the size of work required for us to deliver this as categories are used throughout every feature in our app . Then scheduling this work alongside all of our priorities has meant we’ve not had the capacity to tackle this yet.
For many other customers their top priorities are things like ‘better annual budgeting’, ‘supporting foreign currencies’, ‘supporting X bank’, ‘supporting Monzo Pots/Starling Spaces etc’. We’d love to do everything, but we have to pick our choices based on the size of team we have and the various priorities we have.
I can’t give you a timescale on when this particular feature will be delivered and we are not working on this yet due to a major new feature that we will launch in the next few months.
I will update in here when we have more news on this.
I would like to add my support for Category Splits as a future feature. Quite honestly, for me it’s the only thing stopping from switching from another app. Splitting and being able to adjust dates on transactions are some of the main features I highly value in apps such as these.
Two years of requests… any progress on splitting categories? If you are listening to feedback, why hasn’t this been actioned? I appreciate your honesty in saying that you are not working on it, but how come every other money tracking app does have this feature? Maybe poach one of their developers to help you achieve it?! I’d pay for it in a monthly subsription, it is that important!! Your app is great otherwise, in the meantime I continue to use another app that does have this feature. I’ll be right along when you do though… but remember, procastination will suffocate your business growth.
I moved across from Money Dashboard, which was a great app. That App had bill splitting although it was a bit fiddly to get it to work. I sort of miss this option but think there are other things I miss more. Money dashboard was great at forward planning and I really miss the ability to add future one off bills. I have a final holiday payment in July but cant add it into Snoop as a future bill. So my only option is to add it into my phone calander as a reminder to transfer money into my current account, to pay off my credit card. Then I have to cope with by future credit card projected bills being way to high, as it must use some average of previous bills. Would be better if it could download bill totals and assume you are paying the next bill off in full.
Hi @Reuben - we do listen to feedback and we’ve implemented many new features based on direct feedback in the last 2 years.
We’ve not yet prioritised split categories but we understand it’s important and we intend to do this at some stage.
I always give open and honest answers about this topic… we’ve selected other things which are higher priority for us a business and based on the effort vs reward that each choice gives us. I totally understand that different people will have different views on this.
ok thanks @paul_k. The message is loud and clear, you have no intention of listening to your customers and developing this feature. Therefore, for the benefit of everyone else on this thread that has put the request in for splitting transactions (a basic necessity in money tracking apps), the following all do have it, so use one of these instead. Pocketsmith, Moneyhub, YNAB, Emma
Appreciate that, but you have been saying that for 2 years now, and there are multiple requests on this thread, and they all get the same response, yet nothing happens. Action speaks louder than words
Thank you for your feedback, I have shared this directly with our development team. As my colleague Charley mentioned it is important for us to understand the level of demand for feature requests, so we appreciate you notifying us that you also want split transactions.
Please keep an eye on our email and in-app communication for future updates.
Thank you for sharing your additional feedback on this feature request @AndyMac - we really appreciate this and have shared it with our development team!
I’ve been watching this thread, and another about Starling spaces for a while, waiting, and hoping for progress that hasn’t been forthcoming.
There are now at least 37 of us who have commented to say this is a feature we want to see, and 100 people have liked this, and yet it still isn’t being worked on. Unfortunately, I can’t wait for this anymore, so whilist I have found Snoop to be a really great app, I’m afraid I’m cancelling my plus subscription and moving to Emma instead, as they are providing both split transactions and the ability to see Starling Spaces. Unless you prioritise features like these, that in my opinion are fairly basic, you are going to continue to lose market share to your competitors, which is a shame!
I posted this myself Enable Manual Transaction Splitting as well - will follow this thread as is the most popular - I agree that this is a must for any budgeting tool!
We understand the demand to see splitting capabilities for transactions in Snoop so it is something that we aim to deliver however, I’m afraid this isn’t a prioritised feature at the moment.
I’d also like to add my support for category splits, I discovered this issue when I bought things to be split with someone else across different categories, they paid me back for their half in a lump sum, and now I can’t accurately attribute it to it’s budget category, meaning my budget for these items is showing double and massively skewing the budget, please please please make this a priority
